Hes way too shy, or atleast i think he is?

He always asks me to hang out, and i say yes. Then he always says hes bringing a friend. I understand where hes coming from, because it will be our first time hanging out. I dont know, i just dont want to put myself in an awkward position. Im a really outgoing, loud person though, so its easy getting along, im just not sure if he'll be as forward as im used too. Does that make sense..? idk, what should i do? just hang out with him, and see what happens? advice please? thanks :)
